What does it mean to organize an international art festival in Klaipėda and the region today? Is internationality the number of foreign artists in the program, or perhaps long-term creative connections, exchanges and new ideas? How does an international festival in Klaipėda differ from a similar festival in Vilnius? How important is the local audience, the cultural life of the city and the identity of the region to the festival?

The discussion will bring together organizers of different Klaipėda festivals. We will talk about the survival of festivals, funding models, audience growth, the meaning of internationality, competition and cooperation, and the question of what role international festivals can play not only in Klaipėda, but also in the entire Western Lithuania region.

Is an international festival in the region a luxury, a cultural necessity, or maybe a way for the region to talk to the world?
